Maybe this MacBook Pro update will incorporate a retina display which the high resolution wallpaper in Lion hints at.
Guys... seriously. Retina displays aren't happening on anything larger than your iPhone for a while. I don't care what size icons or wallpapers have been spotted. The cost for screens of that resolution at that size would be absurd.

I agree with the guy who wants any iOS device to be the receiver of AirTunes music.
I hear all the comments about Home Sharing and Airfoil, but both are only partial solutions that work in specific cases. I, personally, nt my old iPod Touch to function as a battery powered airport express - with some battery powered speakers attached, I can stream music anywhere (including the garden, etc) at the same time - perfect for parties. I could do that with AirFoil, but that means when I want to stream from my iPad to my Apple TV or Airport Express speakers in the living room I need a different solution. Plus i'm not sure the Apple Remote app will allow me to switch AirFoil sources on and off, which means I have to go back to my Mac to change them, it's not properly integrated, so not a great solution. Acceptable, sure, but far from ideal.
With home sharing, your old iPod Touch already does this. It's just that you get to 'pull' the music from your library to your Touch, rather than pushing it from the computer to the Touch. Really, what more do you want?
In reality, this is a much better solution than acting as an Airport Express, which only allows you to play one music stream to any or all devices. With home sharing, different devices can listen to different music at the same time.

Good news all around if you ask me. See the NTP vs. RIM case for proof of how ridiculous things could have gotten.

Can't wait to see what they come out with. Will the displays ramp up resolution and diminish in size? Will there be a scaled down iMac? (doubtful) Will some other advances accompany Sandy Bridge and Thunderbolt?
Why do they want OS X users to feel as if we were on an iPad!!!???
If I wanted/needed one, I'd buy one. What the hell !!!???????:mad::mad::mad:
I saw a two-year-old behave like that once... before getting his face smacked.

He said he would be happy with 1% of the TOTAL MOBILE PHONE MARKET SHARE, not just SMARTPHONES!
What % of the total do Apple actually have?
The latest figure I could see was 1.5%, not that much over the target the Steve set.
Don't read the % figure of the Smartphone market as being the target Steve was after!
They had 2.9% of the worldwide mobile phone market for 2010.

WOW this is a major privacy breach.
This PROVES Apples an EVIL ENTERPRISE.
THE WORST BY FAR!
So damn hypocritical - accusing Google, all the while they're doing the same damn thing behind the backs of their supporters.
Personally I was aware long before this article, but I refused to reveal it since Apple's minions would have thrown tantrums of denial.
While I don't like it, the fact is ALL TECH COMPANIES do this.
Privacy was a thing of the past, long ago. Don't kid yourself, if you've used a computer in the last ten years its already too late. The only "new" development is geo location.
Welcome to the future, today.

who the hell are cingular? what about orange t-mobile, vodaphone or o2? I guess it's US only again...
Did you even read the link?
Speculation is that O2 will have the exclusive rights to the iPhone in Europe. You can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think O2 is somehow connected to Orange. So it looks like the iPhone will have a carrier in Europe and the UK.

I think he was referring to the older versions of Office that had weird MDI interfaces for Word and Excel, so that it only displayed one document at a time, unless you explicitly forced two separate instances of the application to run at the same time.
Actually there is still annoyances with that. While you can run two instances of Excel they still use a weird MDI interface if you are just double clicking to open files. A nightmare if you have dual monitors, and still not fixed in Office 2010.

Wow. Are all these features actually on an Intel chip? It's not obvious or anything

The thing I'm most impressed with is the 2GB video card. I have the 2008 MacPro w/ 3.0 dual core xeon, 12 GB of ram, an ATI 1900 w/ 512 ram. I just purchased Portal 2 over the weekend and cannot run it as it doesn't meet the specs. I'll have to purchase a new video card. A bit depressing...

I'd bet it bounces up, because now they don't have this crap hanging over their heads. The judgement vs. the settlement could have been a crapload worse should they have lost.

20% is a decent improvement in speed. However, I won't be replacing my 20" Intel iMac any time soon. There will be a time when I can't resist the upgrade, and a 24" is very appealing. But it's not a necessity - it's a desire.
The way things progress, I might find myself looking at a 3ghz iMac Core 4 Duo's in a couple years - and when that come out I'll be looking more closely.

This could be either really big or really bad. Either way, I don't see it going over to well without a burn to DVD option. It also needs a settop media mac. Either way, it'll be interesting to see how everything develops. Good thing I'll be in Milwaukee on the 12th. I might want to go to Mayfair to see how everything went.
I live in Milwaukee so maybe I'll see you at Mayfar on the 12th. :)

what the heck LOL, this is a joke right? I have NEVER seen a single new windows phone being used in public nor do I see that many Android devices in the UK. mostly I see
1. BlackBerries
2. iPhones
never seen a new windows phone LOL, most people who are happy with iPhones etc, will stick with them and won't bother going for anything else.
Looking at the email notification I got of your original list before your edit:
1. BlackBerries
2. iPhones
3. HTC'S <--- Those would be your Android/WP7 phones. ;)
4. Nokia N-Series

Sorry folks, but you act as if the Patent office was some kind of arbiter for what makes sense. It's not. The US patent office has granted patents for all kinds of nonsense: perpetual motion machines, exercise equipment of dubious value, healthcare devices that certainly don't work and...the peanut butter and jelly sandwich and toast (patent #6,080,436)!
The PB&J patent was finally rejected. Here's a link to the story.
http://patentlaw.typepad.com/patent/2005/04/children_rejoic.html
Bottom line is that patents are in no way any indication of a first, new, original, worthwhile, creative idea at all. It is simply a method of establishing some kind of legal protection and as such is probably outdated as a tool or should be.

BTW, What is with all the Anti Mini Mac Pro hostility??? "I'm sorry, you can't have a Quad 2.67 Ghz CPU and a top of the line graphics card. I'm sure a Mac Mini will more than fulfil your needs, with its Dual 1.86 Ghz Yonah processor and Integrated Graphics. As long as you de-emphasize on productivity, you should find a Mac Mini is plenty fast enough. After all, Apple is perfect, and anything they don't offer should be wanted by you."
Indeed. It's as if there's something wrong with asking for something you want. How dare we suggest the Apple lineup isn't perfect!
